Cavalier problem: hard start & hesitation

My son just bought a 1998 Cavalier with 79K on it. Four cylinder, pretty straight & decent condition. He is dealing with a hard start condition & hesistation that is an on/off problem. He is trying to get a factory manual to work on this himself. Are there any other books on these types of issues or drivability issues anyone else knows about?

i have a 99 with 120,000 and i had those problems and had my fuel pump changed. Did u have the pressor checked? Ok, have u decided what was the problem. the cavy engines ride a little rough, i hate that. but there suppose to be a good car.

a tune up would do wonders or a fuel injector cleaning, professionally done. many times is something stupid like that. g'luck

Thanks, but i just put in fuel injector cleaner and changed spark plugs, unless one is defected.
