This is a shot in the dark but, are any of your rear wheels getting hot after driving?

Sounds like a stuck parking brake.

You shouldn't need to disconnect it, just have it release, sometimes if the brake cable gets rusted and you push the parking brake pedal in the return springs don't have enough pull to return the parking brake cable back. Make sure that your parking brake pedal is all the way up, if not you can try pulling it up by hand and if that does not work someone needs to get under the van to pull the cables back.

CAREFULLY, chock the front wheels, jack up each rear wheel and see if it turns freely when the van is in neutral. It they do your problem is not in the brakes.

Hi. We have the same problem with our 94 aerostar. May i ask you what you mean with "chock" the frontwheels? The van drives backwards but when we want it to go forward it moves like a half kilometre an hour.
