Hi, can you replace the 2 6x9 sub speakers in the rear of the car and just replace them with regular 6x9 speakers? Or are they wired just for sub speakers.

1997 Lincoln Continental

Thanks

thats a good question. . also How do i know my 1997 has the JBL system in it? As far as I can tell, I only have 4 speakers. .. 2 front door speakers and 2 rear door speakers. I dont hear any sound out of the rear deck at all.

I know I have a jbl system because it say JBL on it. As for the rear speakers they are wired for sub. How do I know I took the wires off and wired it to a regular speaker and all I got was bass. The JBL System is very nice, I just have a very nice pair of Infinity 6" x 9" 2-Way Speaker (692.7i) I wanted to put in the rear.

I would guess if the system does not say JBL on it maybe you don't have the premium sound system installed.

Your guys should have two amps in the trunk, Sub amp, and Speaker Amp.

Can't imagine why you'd want to kill the sub's :( A small full spectrum Amp could bypass the Sub Amp to new rear-deck speakers if you really want that.
You'll need the wiring charts from your service manual to find the new amp feeds.
