gas mileage?

Hey.. just thought id ask you all this, idk if itll get answered cuz none of my other posts ever got answered...

how much mpg do you guys get, on average?

im getting ~20mpg.. is that normal?! i drive pretty soft on the neon too..


my oil level IS a bit high (guy i brought it from did that)
but other than that everything feels like its in good tune..

any ideas? :/

The neon can avg about 30-35 mpg on the highway and around 25-30 in the city depending on driving style.

My old highly modded 97 got about 40 mpg on the freeway.

yow. where the heck am i losing a good 10 mpg?!..When was the last time you had a good tune-up? Plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve and so on.

you know.. i have no idea, i just purchased the car. i checked plugs, oil, *& other vital fluids.. and its all clean (except the brakes)

the oil is a bit high, and my dad says my car smells like the cat is plugged..

the mileage is super low so i figure it should be in okay tune.. the wires look brand new..etc. so idk

and i cant spend $$ on it right now.. lol

actually, i am trying.. haha =P im trying to get rid of it so i can
1) buy a SRT-4 motor ...they have a bunch here to drop into the neon
2) buy a older camaro and build it.. (i have a spare body and a sbc 350..)
but.. i havre almost 0 experience..the neon DOES seem easier to work on..so small and compact.. >_< i hate the 94+ camaro body.. i had a 88 firebird.. and it was 1203213 times easier to work on.
