how good is the transmission

I have a 96 taurus with 120,000 and the head gaskets blew. i was going to replace the engine but i was wondering could i get atleast 30,000 more miles outof the transmission before that has propblems two becauase i didnt have any problems with it before the engine blew. So how good is the transmission.

If the transmission has made it that far and has has regular maintenance, and works well, I could see it going another 30k

well i only bought it with 118,000 miles on it so im not sure how much maintainence it had. I was just wondering does the taurus normally have problems with the transmission?

Out of all the Fords, Taurus does have more transmission problems than the rest. Good luck!
