clutch problems?

hello all, i'd first like to say thank you for any help or advice you're about to give me, although i'm quite sure i know of what the problem is, i'd like to re-assure myself.


so this problem began this last weekend, which was kind of noticable, but nothing drastic. I used to drive at higher RPMs, and shift, and when I would shift gears, then release the clutch, I would gas, but the problem was my RPMs weren't dropping and going when I shifted. Now this last weekend I noticed a bigger problem. When I would be in any type of lower RPMs such as reverse, or starting off from neutral to 1st, my car would shutter really badly, and shake. I then began driving, after shifting first to second, I'd step on the gas and my RPMs would rise, but my car didn't seem to want to move. My initial thought was the clutch was going. I was told to try to get the car up around 30-35 and then drop the car in 4th and lay the gas to the floor, which i noticed my car's RPMs went skyrocket, without the car really reacting to the gas, other than the RPMs. The car was driveable for the weekend, but I only drove to work one day, and a few miles to a gas station the next. This morning I'm going to school/work, and I went to clutch and start the car, but my clutch had no pressure to it. The clutch fluid was low, but i filled it, and pumped the clutch to get the flow of fluids back through, to see if it would help. Is my clutch just gone that i can't even get pressure off of it, a mechanic down the street told me that the clutch is pretty much fried, there's nothing to grab onto and the pressure plate is probably totally anniholated. I'm hoping a new clutch kit will fix, since I ordered a standard Exedy clutch for my car today. I'm really hoping you guys will tell me that a new clutch kit will do the job. Am I looking to replace the flywheel as well? I don't plan on keeping this car long, just enough to get some stacks under my belt to get my new car. But I'm just wondering if I did the right thing by ordering my parts, since I'm having to greatful buddies throw the new clutch in this weekend for 2 cases of beer. I'm saving a lot from labor, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to have to return the clutch kit, and that replacing it will do the trick. If not, anyone interested in buying a clean 94 Eagle Talon ES 2.0L Non turbo, I got a GSX turbo ready to be put in, but I'm just probably going to sell it along with the car once this gets fixed.

I'd also like to say that, I'm able to start the car up in neutral, but if i try to start it up in 1st, she barely starts, giving me a studdering effect, also not letting me shift. when i try to even shift with the messed up clutch pedal, she just grinds so I hate to hear the girl do that. Can anyone tell me is this normal if its my clutch in general? The mechanic told me it's nothing really to do with my master or slave cylinder because of the RPM situation.

It sounds like your clutch is deffinately gone. But if your pedal is getting soft and your loosing fluid you might want to check out your hydrolics also.

eh not really, it didn't leak the fluid, i just drained the other shit and put new shit in, it had a good amount in there, and i never really checked the shit to be honest.

Did you drain and refill before or after the clutch problems started? It's possible that you didn't bleed the system properly. You should bleed the master first and then the slave.

Also, even though you aren't seeing a fluid loss, I would still check the master and slave. Check the slave by pulling back the boot and if it's wet at all, it needs to be replaced. The master can be checked under the dash.

i guess theres a leak in my clutch fluid, and i got the clutch pedal to normal, but the car still slips when i shift, im not sure as to how i can get that leak fixed, but the clutch is being fixed this weekend. i definitely need to find out where that shits leaking from

Sounds like it's not disengaging to me which is why I pointed him towards a hydraulic problem.

haha, i guess she wasn't leaking, i just hadn't put any fluid in there for awhile, but i took the beast around to see if the problems were still there, and yeah she slips when i shift, but the thing is, sometimes the pressure under the pedal likes to go on and off, the fluid is in there, and it hasn't leaked all day, it's at the same level i filled it up to, i guess i'm just going to replace the clutch and see what happens after that. i don't know, but the clutch is just going bad, and i'm not going to drive it until saturday when i have to get her to my buddy's garage. the fluid is staying in there fine, and pedal is straight for now, but it seems like the pressure likes to come and go while i was driving, it kinda got tough to shift after awhile, but i'm quite sure that my buddy is right, there's no other problems beside the clutch itself. no slave or master cylinder problems he says, the clutch is the only problem he says. he knows cars, so ill take his word, but when they fix the clutch this weekend, i'll have them check the other stuff out as well. they said it should be like new with just a clutch in her.
