'97 Conv - Trunk won't open (jammed?)

The trunk of our '97 Convertible will not open. I press the button in the
center console & hear the solenoid fire, but it doesn't sound right. When I
put the key in, it will only turn about 1/4" before stopping. It seems like
it is jammed. Any suggestions on how to get in there? You can't go thru
the back seat.
