im lookin at a 1979 Trans AM with a oldsmobile 403 the asking price is 3grand it needs paint and has some rust underneath is it a good deal? i know its fast it has to be with that size engine right? i was looking for a nova but came across this Trans AM it will be my FIRST car thats just mine.
i know someone with a 75 nova they were gonna sell me for 3.9k but it has a 454 which seems a lil to big for gas prices so you think i should go with the Trans AM im thinking i may make a lower offer but im not sure yet

It's pretty rare for any car to get the full asking price. IMO if you are considering this car, start at about half that price,

Beware of rust. Be extremely careful and examine the car very carefully. Extensive rust (even if its not in holes) can weaken this car's structure beyond affordable repair.

This car seems a bit expensive to me. Bad paint and rust can add thousands to repair and repaint. For less money than that, you might buy a much better car.
Also note the options. A 4 spd standard and a T-roof can add to this car's value.

403 WAS A DOG ENGINE. NOT A LOT OF sPEED PARTS FOR IT. TE 400 PONTIAC WAS A MUCH BETTER PACKAGE

Grab the Nova, the 454 should be decent enough if you gear it right and you keep your foot out of it. The car is pretty light and will take very little gas to get it moving. You might want a neck brace for the passengers.
