i have a 99 chevy tahoe, and its giving me problems...first the battery was messing up, i fixed that, then the radiator started to leak, i also fixed. now it wont start, when i turn the key it with try to start but it wouldn't. it sound like a car that does not have gas in it. i made some one look at it, and supposedly he said that it something to do with the fuel... he told me that i might have to change the fuel assembly, he said that there is power going to the fuel pump, but no power/signal sending it back, or something like that.
does anyone of u encounter this problem on your chevy tahoe? labor and parts might cost me 500-600 dollars, which is very expensive, which i'm not even sure if that really is the problem.
pls. advise!!!
thanks,

Welcome to AF
Why did you have to make someone check it?
Fuel pumps do not give back 12 volt.
Check and make sure it has 12 volts on the gray feed wire to the pump from fuel pump relay.
Key on fuel pump prime or engine crank.
If 12 volts on the gray wire to fuel pump and the pump has a good ground then you need a new fuel pump.
Shop around on the price for fuel pump but always replace with a AC Delco /Delphi OEM pump.

Check for fuel pressure, if none, bang on the bottom of the gas tank with a plastic or rubber mallet while someone is cranking it. Most of the time, the vibration if enough to move the pump off the bad spot. If it starts that way, it is the fuel pump.
