Performance Shift?

HI again. 2000 grand prix gtp. Has a little button on the shifter for performance shift? What exactly does this do? What way will give me better economy? Thanks again!!!!!!!!

When pressed on it increases shift firmness and allows the transaxle to shift at higher rpms thereby improving acceleration/performance. It does not increase or decrease horsepower as some Grand Prix owners believe.
Also, tranny downshifts occur at a lower percentage of accelerator use while in performance shift. Fuel economy is normally better with performance shift off.
