Brake Job

Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 grand prix GTP. I love the car, but the brakes are bad. I think the rotors are warped because it seems to shake quite a bit only while braking. I was just hoping someone would be able to tell me exactly what tools I need for the job before I start. I plan on doing all 4 corners. Replacing pads and rotors. Thank you!!!!!

I had the same problem with the shaking oin the highway. To do the front pads and rotors is really easy to me maybe 30 min to do both. take off the wheel i think the caliper has like 2-3 bolts i beleive they are 15mm, take them off slide the caliper off and find a place to support it so it doesnt hang free on the brake line, you will need a c-clamp or vice grips or something to compress the piston so it will fit over the new pads,rotor is free of bolts so just slide it off,could need a little bagn to get it loose.slide new rotor on put new pads in put back together and your done,just before you try them pump the brake pedal a few times to get it stiff...thats really it,there are little extra things some people will tell you but i did mine just like this and have no issues no sqeaks no vibration nothing. hope it helped.

yep thanks buddy, sounds like just a normal brake job. I was just hoping there werent any special parts needed. Like i know some imports require you to use a special tool on a 3/8's drive ratchet to turn in the piston to compress it. Doesnt sound like the carse here.

How about the rears? Same straight forward method?

Both the front and rears are the same. Just remember that the emergency brake uses the inside of the rear rotor so be sure to clean the oil off the inside of the rotor as well as the outside. Also, I suggest that if you have ABS that you don't compress the old brake fluid back into the system. Open the bleeder valve and vent the old fluid. Then bleed the brakes.
