really??, i thought i typed clearly enough, well any ways, i have small alluminum tubing, and i want to figure out how to trumpet it too make induvidual throttle bodies for a ae86 drift car, its a old fujimi kit, i know theres one with engines but i couldnt find it, so i used my motor as a reference to make a 1/24 version of it, scratch building is my thing, ive never made a box stock kit hahaha

you SCRATCH BUILT THAT MOTOR?!?!?! or did you kit bash it? anyway, I completely understood everything you wrote (I'm a 1:1 car guy, and I like engines)

ITBs hmmm.....I'd say start with tubing, and use bits of plastic, wire, whatever to make the base. and for the flutes, I'd just use a tubing flare kit, then polish it all out when you get done. you can get a flair kit from harbor freight for just a couple bucks.

btw, for those NOT in the know, ITBs means independent throttle bodies. and 4age is a motor found in but not exclusive to the mid 1980's AE86 Toyota Corrolla/Trueno.

yea, i guess i have too much time on my hands, my brother said i should make a business out of it, but anyways, how else can you get a flair kit?? i went in to harbor freight and they didnt have one, and in case you were wondereing, the engine i used for reference was out of a 86 mr2, 4age, i cant barely fit in it, seeing as im 6 foot 7

that is simply outstanding, I must pick your brain, or possibly have you do something for me.

You're going to have a hard time finding a flare kit at Harbor Freight or AutoZone or anywhere in town that's going to be able to flare the aluminum tubing for your scale ITBs very well. The flaring kits you can find at those places are mean for brake or fuel lines which are both bigger in ID but also made of harder alloys and have thicker walls. It's worth a shot but I'd be surprised if you could make anything close to as nice as that... um... scratchbuilt... engine.

When I made ITBs for my F20C powered Super 7 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=305550&highlight=lotus), I used Sakatsu intake trumpets, and scratchbuilt the rest with some styrene stock. I actaully used bits of sprue for the actual throttle body, with bits of styrene strip between the throttle bodies and the trumpets, and again at the base. I use a pin through the center to depict the single pivot for all four throttle bodies, and various bits of PE and plastic linkages for the actual linkage in the center. I also used bits of styrene rod and strip to sort of "widget" up the throttle bodies, so they looked the part.

If you actually did scratchbuild that motor, you should have no problem with the ITBs. Provided you can figure some way to flare the tubing, or whatever.

I see you used capitals when you asked me for help in my thread though :D

Also, that WAS useful advice I gave you. If you expect people to provide help, it's a good idea to write your questions in such a way that encourages and facilitates reading and not make it harder. However, you'll make your own choices on the matter....

I looks to me like the engine Fujimi provides as a pre-assemble, pre-painted resin part with their Trueno kits.

You can see it by clicking here. (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10047086a/20/1)

Oh my god, how'd you find that?, where can i buy one of those?, if id have known about that before i made my motor it would have saved me a months worthh of work, how much are they, where can i get one?, it even comes with an intake manifold, i didnt know how to make one of those, but it looks very similiar to the one i made, but on the back of my motor, u can definetly tell its scracth made, cause its got uneven surface, cuase of the way i made the valve cover, and the paint is a little darker, that one uses bronze and gunmetal, where as i used flat black and german silver, and metalic silver mixed with brown

Why don't you just buy them like the motor you got?

Why did you take down the pic too?
