Knock Sensor

What's up fellas? I'm having problems whit my 97' Max, the car suddenly shuts off. No sputtering or anything.
My display lights on the bottom of the cluster don't come on until a couple of minutes later and then I'm able to turn on the car. I had the car checked out and the mechanic told me that the knock sensor is faulty. Has anybody had this problem before? I'm not convinced that is the knock sensor.

Youre right. Worst case when KS is dead, ign is retarded.

Possibly pwr supply (connector/s, wires, relay) to ECU has intermittent brkdown... U have first to check charge voltage, then to insta gauge into ECU pwr supply and keep it connected (watch and wait) to confirm. Check p.14, see link below.

Usually knock sensors cause check engine light codes, is your light on?

My check engine light don't light up, I think that the previous owner removed it. I took the car to another mechanic and told me that I'm having problems with my engine harness, and to fix the problem is going to set me back $2500-$35000. He also says that he doesn't even guarantee the work .This S@#$ is crazy! I was actually going to put the car for sell a week before all of this started to happen, and now for sure I'm not going to be able to sell it. Anyways now, my RPM gauge is going crazy. The needle starts jerking up and down without giving it gas. Any idea of what it might be?

Does your check engine light come on for a bulb check? Why did the technician say it was harness related, did he find broken wires? Have a friend hop in your car and start it up. Shift to reverse and hold the down on the brakes. While he is doing that, grab a hold of the harness that runs along the passenger strut tower. Twist and shake the harness and see if any lights come on or new codes appear. Also see if the engine runs any different while doing so. The harness can be repaired fairly cheap. You could take a look at the iac motor. Check out the connector and see if it is melted or damaged in anyway. That is where I would start looking.

I already tried moving the wires around while the car is on, and nothing happens. I would assume that if the harness wire was the problem, the car would shut off while I twist and bend some of the wires. I explained to a mechanic what was going on with the car, and he told me that maybe the computer was the problem, and that he was going to stop by this weekend to check it out.

Whats up fellas? I finally found out what was making my car shut off, while I was driving. It was the stupid alarm. The mechanic couldnt find nothing wrong with it, so he started messing with the alarm, and found that it was faulty.
