O2 sensor troubles

I seem to have a lot of trouble with O2 sensors and have to replace them quite often. Could this be from overheating from driving too fast?

If you are pumping the accelerater to get every last bit im sure some unburned fuel could accumulate in that pipe and get it glowing red hot.

To be certain I would need your O2 Sensor to Speeding ticket ratio.

Good luck

Well, I've been pretty lucky in the ticket department, but the motor gets humming pretty good at 75 and 80 mph. Does anyone know why the check engine light doesn't come on for the O2 sensor, but the computer says that it's bad? Any thing else cause this code other than a bad sensor?

75 will pass a;; school buses and some tour buses not many it seems but
doesnt sound to bad.

I dont know much about lights and the computers but I changed a couple of sensors and then a coil all made it drive better and didnt fix my missing.

I then changed the negative cable to fix the terminal connector and that reset the computer and the miss was gone.

Which part was right I dont know cause I skipped the Disconnect neg cable step.

Live and learn Good luck

Well, I did disconnect my battery, but the code was still there when I checked. Even before I started the car.

Is the problem just the codes, or are you failing emissions or getting bad gas mileage?

I was getting bad gas mileage, and there was soot coming out of the exhaust while it idled. I've got bigger problems to worry about now as I took it in to have the head gasket replaced and my head is cracked. Going to get a reconditioned motor I guess.

Coolant leaking into the exhaust will kill O2 sensors. Yep, fix that first.
