Hey Guys,
I went to finally replace my rear shoes and drums today...upon ripping everything apart I came to find the e-brake cable was seized in the "on" position. I'm kinda short of cash for the next month and really wanna put my new pads and drums on now..thing is I would have to cut the ebrake on the bad side for now and was wondering if the rear adjusters rely the ebrake being attached to adjust themselves. I know its dumb not to replace the cable, but I would only replace it with a new one and I don't have the cash for a month or so to get it

The self adjusters work on their own indipendant of the parking brake cables... happy cutting

most of the time the self adjusters don't even work, at my work we just manually adjust them with a screwdriver.

I've noticed in the two years I've had the car, I've had to manually adjust the brakes probably more than any other maintenance that has been needed on the car (except oil changes of course) I had the drums off for one reason or another and there was definately some wear that the adjusters hadn't seemed to make up for...the drums stop just fine if you keep them adjusted right. Lol, I like the way the drums help stop the car compared to the four wheel disc setup, but if I were to change to the rear discs on the crx, it would be purely to save myself all the constant hassle of maintaining all the shit that always seems to pop up with these damn drums :2cents:
