neighbors

hi, well today i noticed that i did my gains wrong. i assumed that i did cause you could not tell that it was amp'd ( my speakers) until you get into 56 out of 62 in the volume control. now i usally do stuff like this at work because they tend to think it is cool that someone is blaring there music etc. but i had today off and i wanted to mess around so i got every one of my neighbors to come out and complain so i was wondering how many of you pissed off your neighbors while doing things like that (i'm not promoting pissing off your neighbor or anything like that)

I only bump during the daytime, between 11-6 cuz they don't have a right to say anything IMO. I actually tweaked around with my amp today and saw how high my gain was. Had to blare for a few minutes so i could get a cleaner boom at high volumes. I never try to get along with my neighbors (i'm a prick) but i still try to be respectful when it comes to the bass. My neighbors friends are horrible cuz he bumps, hard, regardless of what time of day it is.:banghead:

the one neighbor that complained the most it's funny cause her son has a system and he comes home and bumps, but with his you only hear subs with mine you hear everything.

I always turn mine down in my neigborhood and at lights.

If you live in the city. I don't have that problem thank goodness.

I set them individually using a heldhand little amp/speaker.

i run jl slash series & W7 subs and they're interactive site helps you to mate them perfectly, but i got a sysytem i use for setting gains/signal processing...it's more course than specific, but it's helpful
1. run a sweep and notice your peak freq. in your car, (the loudest freq.)
2. loop that freq. connect a dmm across your amp, (red+ / blk-)
3. multiply the volts by 1/2 of your fuse rating for avg watts (course tuning)
4. adjust the gains until you get your desired output wattage
5. use whatever signal processing you have to fine tune the sound

i admit it's crude but my dmm reads rms and althouh it's not a precise formula or mathematical proof it should usualy be close enough to help you get what your expecting, or what you should really expect from your amp.
also using this fomula the error is on the low end..

when you set your gains, most people overlap the last gain stage (the amps) with 2 or 3 to 1 setting.
