93 Cherokee will not stop running

I have a 1993 Cherokee with a 4.0L 2WD. When I turn off the ignition switch it will not shut off sometimes. It seems to do it more when it is warmed up and will arbritrarily decide when it will shutoff after the ignition switch is turned off. I have replaced the auto shutoff relay and have tried tapping around on the relays to see if that would help. What next?

Does it stumble along or continue to run smoothly? Have you tried turning your key all the way to the accessory position? Maybe your ign switch is out of adjustment (or just bad).

(Sorry for the bump)
My 94 Cherokee always idles for about 3 or 4 seconds after I switch it off. My mechanic was stumped. It doesn't seem to cause any harm, but in older vehicles, this was a sign of improper timing. Since that's obviously not possible in this situation, does anybody know what causes it?

When mine did it, it was a bad ignition switch.

I saw that come up quite a few times in similar cases. I'll check that out. I'll post the result.

Thank you! :smokin:
