88 Lebaren Alternator

My alternator does not charge the battery. Alternator checks good. I am told the regulator is in the computer and that there is a way to bypass the onboard regulator and hook up one that would bolt to the firewall.does anyone know how to do this? It is the 2.5 engine.

You are correct. There is but I am sorry I do not remember how and the worst part is I have done it. Have you tried to google it?
