Hey!

Our poor 97 SE (3800 S.II) has been in a world of hurt and our continuing saga with this car is continuing yet some more :( I'd give you the story but it will take about 30 minutes to type it all out.

Today's chapter: The Blower Motor.

Ahhh yes, this car had one of those switches that had the old giant PCA card on it and over the course of a month we lost blowing speeds down to the point where we only had speed 5 as our only option. Shortly after, we found out as the warmer weather came around the corner that the A/C switch was not working. JOY!

So, we got a new switch installed over the weekend and now we have all 5 settings and A/C again yay!

2 days later....

No more A/C :(

Now, the switch is still working because we still have all 5 settings, which is great! Or so I think. When we flip the switch to activate the A/C you can hear the click under the hood from the compressor except nothing but hot air comes shooting out of the vents and the wife begins to overheat and pass out while driving... not good. And at the moment the 90'F isn't providing very good 4WDA/C at the moment either.

Yes there is freon in the car as we just put injected a couple new cans over the weekend and there is no evidence of a freon leak. I can't figure out if theres a loose wire or if the vents aren't flipping to let the cold A/C air in or not.

Any advice of where to look next would be appreciated!

Welcome to AF.

It would help to post which climate control system you have. Manual, manual dual zone or automatic digital (ACC).

Have you verified refrigerant charge at the low side port with a gauge? How do the lines feel at the point where they enter the firewall to the evaporator core?
