help

just got a 77 f250 from a friend for some reason breaklights will not work. on the back of break petal there is a switch that makes break lights come on but there is 2 wires coming off this switch .where do i connect these wires that are just hanging ,,any advice please help

one wire is a power wire, constant hot, the other wire goes to the brake lights, should be a connector there?
