Smog Legal B16 Swap???

Is it possible to swap a B16 into a 91 STD Hatch and have it pass smog legally in Cali?? If so, how?? and if not... what engine will???

Yea, you gotta see the state ref or some shit. My friend with a GSR powered SI hatch did it.

Couple main things.
It has to be a USDM engine from same year or newer.
Has to have all the smog equipment from the year of the engine.
Has to be running the correct OBD. 92-95 is OBD 1, 96+ is OBD 2
What this means is that we cant do a b16a1 swap or a zc cause those are both JDM engines that were not available in american cars. EF_LSVtec has a b18b1 that he got Cali legal, i'll let him explain it all...

If you had a ZC tell them it's a USDM D16A9. I mean is the emissions idiots really going to know it doesn't mount up and where it came from. How would they know. In Md they never even looked at my engine when I went for emissions. Get a fuel pressure regulator and just lean it the hell out and then put it normal after you pass.
