Hi,
I own a Pontiac Transsport with obd2. So I can't read codes with the Flashing MIL way.
I just bought a ELMSCAN but the connector used in my car is like the old obd1 type.
Who can help me with the pinout?
Thanks very much in advance!!
Tom.

Your 3.8 Trans Sport (wich in fact is built as a year 1995 model, there was only 3.1 and 3.4 in year 1996) use ALDL 8192 baud (this is OBDI) but have an enhanced code list that looks like OBDII.
I do not think your ELMSCAN can handle GM ALDL 8192 baud. Check this with the supplier before trying something else.
(The serial data is transmitted and recieved at pin M line, bottom to the right in the connector)

Yes, but Tom is right, as far as he knows! GM kept producing the european version of Trans Sport 3.8 long into 1996, and sold this cars as model year 1996! But, if you check the WIN code of this cars, the 8th digit is S, wich is 1995!

How did we know this van is in Europe, crystal ball technique? Van could not be sold in the USA in this configuration. Also it cannot be brought back to the US without OBD11 certification as a 96.

We can only guess. Vanhooft sounds like a dutch name, and checking the profile confirms this.
