My 87 Fiero turns off at 60 mph

My Fiero turns off at 60 mph. At 50 mph, the rpm hand goes wacky. Then the car turns off and it won't start for about one day. I already change the fuel pump and any thing that can do with the fuel system, besides the fuel injectors.

Hmmm... Could be an ignition problem. Does your "Service Engine Soon" (SES) light come on? USUALLY, the culprit in this case is the ignition module. In my case my 1st mistake was buying that crappy E-Tron module from the Fiero Store. I had TWO of them, one I bought seperate and one that came with the new distributor that came later. BOTH modules within a short time set a code 42 (Electronic Spark Timing). MY rule now is, stick with either AC Delco or MSD for ignition parts. Make sure the 2 screws used for the module are not rusted or corroded because they are what grounds the module.

But this only applies to 85-88 V6 or 84-86 4 cylinders equipped with a High Energy Ignition (HEI). You have an '87 and if it's a 4 banger then you have a Direct Ignition System (DIS) which means no distributor. You'll have different ignition parts and a module for a DIS is big bucks. Also A DIS in a Fiero uses two ignitions coils (each runs two cylinders) and a crank position sensor (this is what is in place of where s distributor would be in a conventional HEI system that mounts into the engine block). Those should be checked as well. But before any of this check the easy stuff first like your plugs and wires.
