The other day the A/C compressor on my 98 zx2 seized and calling around it will cost far more than I am willing to pay to fix the POS as i never use A/C so before i start trying this. Is it possible to route a smaller belt and bypass the A/C system completely?

ZXTuner.com sells a pulley to go in place of the compressor. It's $90, you can probably find one cheaper if you shop around.

I would unplug the power plug from the A/C clutch and save the $90

thanks for the help but just ran a shorter belt after a short time figuring out the new routing. As far as just unplugging it that would work if the internal bearings hadn't exploded.

cost $28.36 for a new 69.5 inch belt

I did the same thing, im runnin a 70 inch belt and that is a tight fit, 69.5 must be reallllly tight.
