This vehicle has 165,000 on it. The transmission seems to shift smoothly, however yesterday i was driving and as I accelerated the RPM's shot up rapidly and it seemed like I was pressing the pedal harder to move. The increase in speed seemed not to match the amount of acceleration. Only did it once.......if this sounds familiar to anyone i would love to know whats going on! Thank you

Hey, 165K miles sounds like the trans is slipping. What speed? Starting from a full stop or on the freeway? Pull the trans dipstick, how is the level, full or very low (check after running shifter through all gears and with the engine running and trans in PARK!)? Is the fluid red or brown or black? Does the oil smell like your wife burned your toast or does it smell oily? Have you changed the trans oil and filter, filter could be clogged? Check this stuff and post back.
