CEL flashing is a mis-fire; how old are your spark plugs?

i am not sure, i bought it about 9 months ago and it has around 82000 on it now. I will have to check the plugs. i read here somewhere there is a special plug to put in so i may just replace them.

Yes, IIRC, there are special plugs that you have to use for your year, MAKE absolute certain you do that too, or you will end up with the same issue.

Do a bit of research here on the 2k+yr Rodeo's to see what they are, I'm sorry I can't remember for sure - as your year requires different plugs then mine.

Also, it couldn't hurt to do other maintenance; i.e. fuel filter, pcv valve, clean your EGR (this gets plugged VERY frequently on the 3.2L dohc).

If you have a 2000-2004 Isuzu, make sure you only use Denso K16PR-P11 spark plugs. Would these be the same for me since mine is an 01 passport?? I did have it scanned today and although the cel is flashing it is storing no codes...

The Honda Passport IS an Isuzu Rodeo, just rebadged for Honda to make profit. That engine is 100% Isuzu.

i got the plugs today and hope to put them in soon. I was able to get them at a decent price, I work for Honda and the service center sold them to me for $10.64 each. I know i could have ordered them cheaper from the web site listed on the faq page but i figured for the little extra i have them now. Now i just have to search on how to clean the egr.....i already replaced the fuel filter a few months ago when i did the fuel guage fix..

CHeck the owners manual for the gap.

I guess you've already figured out that the gap on those plugs is supposed to be 0.040 (1.05mm) per the Isuzu manual.

I'm wondering if your 01 Passport is knocking badly, like mine was. And if so, did the Denso plugs help at all? They did absolutely nothing for my knock issue. Although the intermittent miss code that stayed set in the KAM went away permanently when I switched to the Denso K16PR-P11. Didn't run a bit better, though.

What really cleared up the knock once & for all was cleaning out the goo from the EGR pipe that runs through the intake plenum. Mine was completely plugged at 80k miles. I took off the EGR valve and the throttle body, put a rag under the TB end of the EGR pipe, squirted a full can of brake cleaner through the EGR tube which cleaned it out completely.

After buttoning it back up, it hasn't knocked since on reg'lar gas. Used to knock like crazy on hi-test.

i had that done as well, my mechanic said the egr itself was not bad but the tube was kinda dirty. It does seem moe quiet except for the muffler rattle that i have to get replaced. I drive this thing over 100 miles a day to and from work so i like to keep it in good condition...also got the new boot from advanced, they had it in stock
