I have a 1978 Pontiac Firebird i was wondering if it would raise the value of my car if i put a 350 chevy sb in it. Instead of the 231 buick v6. Let me here you opinons.

i can't remember ever seeing a 6cyl 2nd gen firebird around so if its in good condition, i myself would keep it close to original.

Yep, there were the v6 and I6.
If the shell is in good shape, why not?

all depends what you want to do with it. idk i just think that there will be no original 6cyl cars left because everyone wants to drop a v8 into them and no one will be able to see what they looked like. Ex: out of all the shows i've been to i've only seen 2-3 69 camaros with the inline 6. just my :2cents: but its up to you.

What do you want to do? If you cruise and don't care too much about having a lot of power stay with the six. If power is what you want go with the v8. If fuel mileage is a concern there may be a slight advantage to the v6. What about a buick grand national turbo setup, now that would be sweet. A swap will make the car more marketable but not necessarily worth more money.

original engine = higher value

The only way the original engine would make any difference in the value is if the car were a flawless restoration.

Buick 231 v-6 turbo wouldnt be a bad idea...

The more I think about it I think the turbo Buick would be the coolest engine to put in it. But in reality a Chevy small block would be cheap, easy and make for a fun car. If it were me and I could find an old t-type or grand national motor setup thats what I would do. I don't think either would be very easy to get a hold of though.
