New Tires 99 Silverado

Will 285-75-16 tires fit on the factory rims, or will they rub the wheel well when I turn?

I am running 265 75 r16's... I like those a lot.

285/75/16 should fit on 4wd trucks. 265/75/16 is the largest you can go on 2wds.

I don't see what difference 2wd vs 4wdmakes... ride height is the same. That is, unless you crank the torsion bar on a 4wd, but that's another mod altogether.

Not in the 99-up, absolutely not. I've pulled nose to nose to a stock 01 Z71 and there wasn't a 1/2" worth of difference, and our tires may have been different sizes or different pressures.

wouldn't the offset of the rims make a difference? Since 285 is a wider tire, I would guess that the offest of the rim would play an important factor on the difference between 2wd and 4wd.

Oh, i have 285/35/22's on my truck with 22x10 inch rims....it rubs pretty bad when I turn. My turning radius as been reduced to almost nothing.

I did some research last night and came up with this. 285's are only 20mm wider, 10 on each side. I jacked up the front end of the truck and cranked the wheel all the way in both directions and have about an inch and a half clearance. Then I dropped it down and did the same. Only about 1/2 inch of clearance at normal ride hight. I think as long as you don't turn the wheel all the way in either direction it shouldn't be a problem.
