Struts/Shocks

Anyone do any replacing of any struts/shocks in an 05 TB? I beleive mine are beat having 50K miles and being taking in the woods a few times. Just seems like its not riding as smooth as it used to and i am starting to feel all the bumps in the road.

Time to start shock shopping.
Just like tires they do wear out.
Also check your tires and tire pressure.
Are you going to DIY it or just have them put on?

The front shock/struts are very different than your typical truck based vehicle. The shock, coil-over spring and lower yolk mount come out as one assembly. You need a spring compressor and a pitman arm puller to remove & replace the shock cartridge. There are posts with pics on this floating around the web.

I was going to do it myself. I have done shocks/strucks and springs in a few cars so I am pretty sure I can figure out how to do it in this. I already have spring comrpessor.

I have not done front shocks on a GM T360 chassis. From what I've seen, you remove the two hex nuts from the shock tower and the single pressed in bolt/sleeve that holds the cast iron lower yolk to the steering knuckle. DO NOT remove the hex nut from the top shock stud until you have a spring compressor compressing the coil-over.

I finally gave in and had my suspension replaced on my TB - couldn't handle it any longer, terrible ride on Bilstien shocks/struts. After much research, found there wasn't many options available for the Trailblazer (wanted a much stiffer ride, more like a truck) Didn't want the Bilstien replacements...
Went to NTB on the advice of a mechanic and they recommended Monroe Shocks and Struts. Skeptically, I agreed to have them installed. Well, what a difference! Much stiffer ride with a little bounce too in the back end (like a truck). Since I tow a boat and flatbed trailer, the handling improved substantially. This over-all solution worked for me.
