'99 Blazer ten minute delay on startup.

I have an issue with my '99 Blazer. It has a habit of randomly deciding when it wishes to start. Making it unreliable. It will not start for at least ten minutes when it does this. It could potentially go on for much longer. There is no rhyme, reason or pattern to when it will do this. Does anyone have any insight??? I have one mechanic saying ignition. another saying no idea, and someone else saying potential problem with the Solenoid?? anyone have any ideas for me at all?

None that I'm aware of. I suppose I should also mention that it is auto.

What is the mileage and tune up history?
Doe it act up hot and cold and is it always a 10 minute delay in starting?
Any check engine or security lights on?
When it does not start check for proper fuel pressure and for good hot blue spark to more than on spark plug.

Mileage is at 220 or there abouts right now. It has been happened since about 100 though, but rarely. It will always take ten minutes at least when it decides it does not wish to start. However it does not always do the ten minute delay. I may go out and it may start right now. Or it may not. It is Entirely random.

It has been well taken care of. The ball joints etc are a problem in it. Probably due for an oil change soon. but that is about it.

The security light comes on randomly. It is not always on. And sometimes it is.

It is entirely independant of the fuel I use in it, the weather and anything else I can think of.

I also just checked to see if it had a car alarm in it from the previous owner and it does not. and there is also no car starter in it.

The security light on is not good.
But when it no starts check for full fuel pressure and for spark to plugs.

The security light comes on randomly. It is not always on. And sometimes it is.

If you have a security light, you have the passkey system. There is a pellet in the key that is nothing more than a resistor that completes the circuit when inserted in the ignition. If the ignition does not see the pellet when trying to start it will disable the vehicle for about ten minutes before you can try it again. You can try cleaning the key and ignition, replace the igntion and keys or just bypass the whole system for under $5 in 15 mins or less. More info here: http://www.12vp.com/info_resistors.htm

I checked the resitance across the pellet in the key with a meter and bought a resistor at Radio Shack

The 99's have passlock. There is nothing in the key, the security is in the lock. I would suggest trying to fix it before resorting to bypassing it.
