i recently purchased my 93 eldorado. it started up fine for a week and a couple of days ago it stopped and gave me the starting disabled due to theft detterent system. ive heard of a trick to to cut your yellow wire while the engine is running. well i cant even get it to start once to do that. any suggestions to get it running so i can take it to a dealership would be appreciated

Never heard of the cutting the wire thing on any caddy board. Verify that before you do it.
Try wiping off the pellet on the key. Try a different key. You may have a broken wire in the steeing column. You may have to bypass the VATS. Check these resources....

FWIW
YMMV

tried cleaning the key. went to dealer and got spare key. it didnt work. ive called 10 different places around here and nobody will bypass the system probably because they would rather me buy a $300 ignition cylinder so it can eventually break again. i also heard of a guy that just knocked his pellet out of his key and that worked......sounds fishy to me. i will check out the resources you left. thanx

Knock the pellet out and I promise it won't start.

i fixed it last week by putting in the resistor. it was really pretty easy when i went to vats.likeabigdog.com and bought the right tools at wal mart. starts up everytime but now im having suspension trouble. i had to pop sum joint back in place and its knockin and rattlin real bad when i hit a bump on both sides on the front now. im off the next two days so im gonna see what i can do about it

Yeah Hi.I had the same problem with my 94 Eldo.Couldn´t figure out what the f**k it was, until there was smoke coming fom my trunk. The pull down motor has a tendency to fail after several years due to hardening of the lubricant used.It sure was a hell of a mess. The bad thing is, it only happens once in a while. You never have the slightest idea until it actually happens.Try changing the motor and i´m pretty sure your problems will be over too.
