2003 Malibu having problems starting

We are having problems with the car starting. It doesn't happen all the time just occasionally.

My husband is a backyard mechanic and has replaced the following items:

Spark plugs
Fuel Filter

Last year the fuel pump went out and we had that replaced by the Chevy dealer.

For example, today I left to go to church, the car started fine. I stopped at a convenience store, the car started fine. Went to church. After church came out to crank it. It goes vrr,vrr and stopped. I tried again, goes vrr, vrr and stopped. I turned the key completely off. Turned it back on, waited for the fuel injector thing to complete and vrr, vrr it cranked. This is how it has been acting lately. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem. The first thing I did was check the fuel pressure. My fuel pressure was good and it turned out to be a passlock issue. We have a bunch of threads on paslock problems and how to bypass them. Check them out and see if it sounds like your problem.

Good luck

Thanks for the response. I will check out those threads. But in the meantime could you give a brief description in regards to pass locks?
