Clueless about cars...

Hey, I drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla S.
My next job for this car is going to be changing whatever it is, to make my car sound loud. I dont want the loud muscle car sound, but more on the lines of The Fast and the Furious loud sound, you know...the sexy roar lol.
Problem is I have no clue about what I need to obtain that, since i have no clue about cars!
I was guessing it all had to do with the muffler, and that i would need to purchase a new one. But then a freind at work said all i really need is an exhaust tip, BUT he said he had a cold air intake which is why his sounded loud. So now i am completely lost...
Also, i noticed the stock muffler/exhuast on the corolla is barely covered by the rear bumper, and the exhuast is pointing towards the ground. Question is, How would it work out when installing? Originally i wanted/thought the exhuast would be pointing straight out, but then that would hit the rear bumper. Basically if you have ever seen the stock muffler on the '04 corolla S, you would know what i am trying to say.
So please, give me an explanation about all this, and procedures, and maybe even point me out to some products to obtain that sexy roar!!
Thanks

You want that Swarm of bumble bee's sound heh? Anyway you should take it to a pro and have a tip put on. They will likely have to cut out some of the bumper which ain't a bit deal as long as you take it to the right ppl. The wrong person could mess your bumper up. Make sure they guarantee their work.
