Help!! I have a 96 Geo Tracker and have had it in the shop many times. I have spent over 800.00 trying to get it fixed and now it still isnt running. The problem is that we replaced the timing belt because it would loose power when driving it for awhile. We replaced the computer the crank sensor, replaced the spark plugs and distributor Now since we have replaced the timing belt and pretty much have it timed it will not pull out of the drive way. I am so frustrated with it and my daughter needs the car desperately. My husband does not know how to fix it. Please help. Thanks Im running out of time and money with this thing!!!

Before you replaced the belt you said it would lose power. Are there any codes stored in the vehicle? Have you checked the cat. convertor to see if it is clogged? fuel pump pressure? Disconnect the cat and see if it will run.

does it idle right. does it crank right up. are you 100% sure the timing belt is correctly timed, and the markes line up. 1 tooth off will let you idle, but you wont go anywhere. did you replace the wires when you replaced the plugs.

First, I would get a new mechanic, one who knows how to trouble shoot and diagnose Suzuki/Geo engines. Sounds like your current mechanic is shotgunning parts at the vehicle hoping to find a magic bullet that will make it run.

Second, follow the advice already given.

Third, if it has an automatic transmission check the shift lever position sensor, fluid level, and other transmission functions to make sure it is engaging. If its a manual check to make sure the clutch is properly adjusted and engaging the engine (flywheel) and not slipping. Finally, or maybe first in the transmission list, make sure the 4 wheel drive selector lever really is in gear, sometimes they try to fool you.

Good luck.
