1994 Fuel filter location?

Where is the fuel filter location on a 1994 Explorer Sport?

I'm not sure about a 1994, but on the 2000 it is located along the frame rail just behind the driver's side front wheel well. I'd suggest you check there first, and if it's not there, follow the fuel line either to the engine compartment or the fuel tank. If you follow the fuel line, you'll certainly find it.

my fuel filter is in the same place on my 96 explorer. You do need to have aspecial tool to compress the clips on the filter. check your auto parts store for the tool they are made of plastic so it should not be too expensive to buy.

I am looking for the same thing on my 2002. Can anyone help?

Have you looked for the filter yet?

It should be along the LH frame rail, either just behind the front wheel as most of these posts mention, or along the LH frame rail near the rear wheel.

As a general rule of thumb, find the fuel tank, follow the fuel line towards the engine, and somewhere along the line, if you have a fuel filter that is not integrated into the fuel tank, you will find the fuel filter.

on my 94 XLT it was as stated, just behind the drivers side wheel well on the frame rail, although it was covered by the brushguard and a bit difficult to see. I think my situation might be a little unique though because somehow the previous owner appears to have installed the guard backwards (well, incorrectly at least) and it was doing an awesome job of hiding it from view.

How I found it for sure, being unable to see it, was to go to Autozone's site and look through the maintenance section of the site where they have detailed procedures on how to do stuff - very helpful for at least the 94 Explorer, but I can't vouch for other years so much. They had a great picture which took me straight to it, showed me about the clips, and pretty much walked me through the process.
