Jeremy Clarkson on the F40...

Okay, so whats the deal with Clarkson and the F40? From what I've seen it seems as if he loves the F40, but then he goes and buys a Ford GT. And now I saw he wants to buy a CC-X. I was just wondering, how come he's buying all these new more expensive supercars instead of buying his claimed absolute favourite the F40?

Think about this seriously. Any car guy will most likely always have their favorite. But that doesn't stop you from going and fully enjoying other cars. Especially if you have the funds to do so.
It's illogical to think he should own just one car because he claimed it to be his favorite.
I love the 355, probably my favorite Ferrari, but I doubt it will be the first F-Car I own.

He's got a wife and three kids. Chances are he suggested an F40 and she said 'You'd look stupid, get something sensible like a Ford'........
or maybe he sees a new car as being more appropriate rather than an eighties throwback....

He has an XC90.
Sold the GT, also has a Lambo Gallardo convertible.
oh, and he has a fighter jet in his front garden. (no, i'm not kidding)

Currently in the $300K+. Depeding on mileage.

The F40 is unlikely to ever be hugely expensive. That's what happens when you make over 1000 of them...

Interestingly, it is pretty much the same as a 288GTO is terms of value (assuming standard models)
THe F40 though, seems to be much easier to get hold of, if you want one.
The same can't be said for the Ford GT or CCX.

thats true, but dude if you could afford your dream car, wouldn't you so get it over a similar car thats about the same price? For him it would be like an F40 over a Ford GT. And wtf lol where did he get a jet from?
Also about the newer car being more appropriate...Clarkson's always talking about how older cars are better so I dunno...just seemed kinda weird to me that hes buying up all those other supercars instead.

I think he also commented once that you should never own your dream car. You tend to build them up in your mind as these amazing vehicles that you love with all your soul, but then when you actually have one, it can only dissapoint.

That was James May and when he drove his dream car for the first time, the Lamborghini Countach LP400S I think it was.
Plus, if I remember correctly, the F40 video he did was before the GT came out. Just like when the GT came out, he loved it and bought one. THen came the Gallardo Spyder, and then he bought one of those.

not to mention that he angered our nige once in a touring car race to the extent that nige rammed him off the track.
that alone gets major kudos in my books.
