Tire Wear and Tear

Does anyone notice that the tires on thier Xterra wear down the middle? If so, does anyone know what this is attributed to? This is my first Xterra, and SUV for that matter. It is a 2002 Xterra SE.

Sounds like they're overinflated.

Yup, most likely. Should be 32 psi tops, 26 is Nissan's advice.

What kind of mileage should you get on the stock tires (Rugged Trails 265/65/R17) in ideal average driving conditions?? A bad alignment has mine totally useless due to both front wheels severly toed out at 23,000 KILOMETERS. Should the dealer pay:hehe:

i got 34k out of mine before buying goodyear mtr's but i just bought rims for my old ranger for them and now they have 6k more on them while sitting on my ranger so that's 40k so far, i figure i'll get 20k more from them. rotate, balance, rotate, balance etc every 3500 miles that's what saves my tires.

I run my stock grabbers at the specified 30psi and mine have worn very evenly. I haven't even rotated them for 20k and the difference in wear between the front and back is minimal. Some of it can just be luck I guess.
