When it sits, It wont start???

I have a 2003 Olds Alero and when it sits for quite some time I have to start it with starting fluid. I'm hoping someone could help me. Just hope that it's not a fuelpump problem! :banghead:

yes sounds like fuel pump if it starts with starting fluid also you could put in new gas filter but i think it will be your fuel pump..good luck...

Thanks for your help! The thing with the fuelpump though, wouldn't it cut out from time to time while running? Cuz once it is started the car runs fine.

well thats like priming it but when it fuel pump go's out all the way it will start with starting fluid until it burns up starting it will not run one of these day's then your stuck on road hopfuley it stops at your house not on the road.another thing i'd take it and have fuel pump tested or buy a guage to test it yourself..good luck....
