Yeah, I knolw......I'll never make my mind up. A local wheel place bent one of my wheels putting on a new set of tires, so I just decided it was time to order new rims. :grinyes: Sticking with these awhile though.

I like those. One of the kids back up at my school had a set of Z06 replicas on his SS. Black SS, and the wheels had the center piece and the sides of the spokes painted back, but the front of the spokes he left unpainted. Looked pretty good.

okay, why didn't you say that in the first place?
I had a serious question, too. Because I've never seen a domestic "muscle" car lowered (mustang, camaro, viper, etc from new to old) around here and simply wanted to know if they think "lowered" are only for the imports or whatever they're reason for not being lowered. I just find HUGE wheel gap is not sexy on cars, at all. Also, it didn't seem like you didn't have the funds for lowering springs. Not to rain on your parade, but if you posted this in a sport compact forum, they would all tell you to lower that thing. So, thanks for answering my question.

1) Who cares about wheel gap if the car can scoot, boogy, dance, or move. I swear to god, you go and do something like sound smart over in the thread about the MRS with different Toyota motors, but then you come over here, and I swear, its like...some off the stupidest shit I've read.
2) That Camaro (and haf the cars on here with your hated wheel gap) would walk all over you and kill you. Hell, I'm for real. You mentioned a Viper not being lowered or having wheel gap or whatever? So? A Viper would come to house, kill you and your father, rape your mother, take your sister out for a nice lobster dinner and not call her back, and then grab your dog and cat and sew their asses together for good measure. Then, it would walk outside, look at your car, and urinate on it while laughing heartily, as your car cries.
3) Just because some dip shit rice boy with a fart canned Civic and wheels that cost more than my damned car in a "sport compact" forum thinks that a car needs to be lowered doesn't mean we all do around here. Shit, the last thing I look at with a real fast car is wheel gap.
4) If it was the case he couldn't afford lowering srpings or such, who the fuck cares? At least he isn't taking all his money and throwing it at some cheap ass twenty year old econobox that even with I/H/E, Underdrive Pullies, a tune, Nitrous, on a 1/4 mile track below sea level with a down hill slant, a tail wind, perfect track prep, and slicks still can't run a 16 second quarter.
In conclusion:
Step 1: Remove head from ass
Step 2: Read post
Step 3: Think of something to post
Step 4: Disregard that something, and start banging your head into a brick wall.
Fuck.

seriously, what happened to all the nice guys around here?
slowprocess posted up his pics and i say whatever is on my mind. If I drove a camaro SS, hell, the first cosmetic mods i'd do would be rims and drop, and if i don't have the $$, why did i get a camaro SS in the first place, right? why not just a base model camaro, i'm just saying. He got the $$, he got the rims, the next thing would be a drop, I doubt he's going for the sleeper look, otherwise he would've left on the stock wheels. And if that's the case, then i wouldn't have said anything the wheel gap.
I see a lot of nice imports around where i live (rims, dropped, lip) and i'm not talking about civaks either, there's a lot of sti, evo, s2k, srt-4, supra, 3000gt vr-4, etc... but seriously all the domestics i've seen that are "suped" up have stock ride height. It seems like most of the domestic guys still think their cars are SUVs, maybe not around where you live, but around here, yes. And if you wanna know about my car, then yes, it has rims, and it's dropped.

cassies, that post was really harsh. its an open forum, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. so just relax. i just hope you weren't drinking last night, because of how you posted that.
but maybe Wisconsin is jsut wierd. i see exactly what rice(er) sees on a normal basis. its actually starting to make me mad. too bad i cant find any of it on cardomain or google. people will buy the anniverary edition of the camaro and put 24'' rims on them, and raise them up like they want to go off roading. give them special paint jobs, and think they are the man. its pretty rediculous. no upgrades to the engine, just the huge rims, huge sound system, and they drive really slow at first, but when up to speed, it takes forever to slow down.

Every car is purpose built when the owner modifies it.
Maybe they don't care about ride height or appearance.
I certainly do not care about my cars appearance. The only appearance modifications I do is wash my car and whatever becomes of performance modifications.

Ricer(er), just because some rice boy in a Civic or whatever thinks a car should be lowered on rims doesn't mean it should. I personally think that 'Maro looks dead sexy like it is. So what if it isn't lowered. Oh, and no, you are wrong, there are plenty of fast ass imports that have little suspension modifications on it at all. Guy around here as an 800rwhp Poopra, sitting on aftermarket rims that are the same size as stockers, not lowered, or any of that. Just because you probably screwed up your ride by dropping your Corolla and putting it on most likely poorly sized/offset wheels, does not mean everyone else should.
And Chiquae, until the day Ace Snyper gets back, its up to me (and every now and then Mushi)to take up the slack found in the "forum asshole" department. If someones feelings got hurt...get the fuck over it.

Lowering a car will effect the track times. Softer, taller springs allow for better weight transfer.
That is why you see most fast F-Body's sitting as high as STOCK ride height.

... and in reality they don't turn blue on their own on the car. If your car is shooting flames hot enough to turn the metal blue, you've got something wrong.
It takes a very hot flame, like one off a butane torch (blue flame) to heat the metal up enough to turn it blue. If your car can shoot flames, it'll be yellowish/orange a low temp flame with maybe a hint of blue.
Basically, the exhaust creates a lot of sutty residue and turns the back of the car black. My SR20DET did that, on a white car it made the exhaust side brown. A bitch to keep clean.

And of course HKS makes one, people like the look of the carbon exhaust so of course they'll cater to that market...and of course they'll use it on their cars. What do you expect? HKS car to use a Greddy exhaust?

That becuase HKS is what we like to call a company. And what is any company's main goal? To sell shit and make money. HKS realizes rice boys and rice girls across the world think that a carbon fiber wrapped fart can looks cool, and therefore, they sell them. Shit, BMW makes an SUV and Mercedes Benz makes something like a minivan. Why? Cuz people want them. It brings them money. Just because a reputable company makes a product doesn't mean its a good product.
And what RX-7 was that?

Rice rice baby.
Lowering a car will effect the track times. Softer, taller springs allow for better weight transfer.
That is why you see most fast F-Body's sitting as high as STOCK ride height.
That would depend on which track you are talking about.
I would prefer to sacrifice a few tenths of a second off of 1/4 times to be able to drive my car on the street and maintain good handling in the turns.
Plenty of supras are pulling the front wheels with suspension that is used for autox. If you are pulling the front wheels, I don't think weight transfer can get much better, until you start looking into the optimal position for control arms to apply force to the chassis and having the theoretical lines drawn from each arm extend to cross around the center of mass of the car, much like that shown in 4 link suspension calculation software. But as far as I can see, we are all driving street vehicles.
.....
And Rice(er), looks aren't going to impress anybody without the performance modifications to support their existence.. If you really want to be able to support your arguments, you have to establish your car, be it a high trap speed, good autox results, races won, ect. I have sympathy for you because you are primarily getting shit for driving an import, although you did pick the fight here, which was not the most intelligent thing to do. You did simply provide your opinion, but you have to pick your battles. An F body thread is not the place to pick a battle if you drive a civic that isn't faster than the cars mentioned.

Very true. I should have mentioned that I was talking mostly about straight line racing and F-Body's since we were discussing the Camaro.
But there are always different combos that work well.
My car is dropped fairly aggressively but still gets out of the hole pretty good. Bogged to 1.67 short times.
Click me (http://home.comcast.net/~mrluos/07March15.JPG) to see the stance of my car on the street wheels.
Click me (http://home.comcast.net/~mrluos/Pro03.JPG) to see the stance when on the drag wheels.

Cool, cool..
You damn F body guys don't negative camber under squat to worry about.. That is another primary reason for us IRS guys to run high spring rates.. If you had a sticky tire on my car with stock springs, it would throw a lot of camber in under a powerful launch.. Most of the quicker 240sx's run a couple degrees of positive camber.
