Hello,
My vehicle is a 91' Regal Gran Sport Package 3800, 3.8L V6, Engine Code 'L', 73K miles. This is my first vehicle and I love it, I just want to make sure it lasts long for me. My question is what tune-ups are recommended for this age and mileage?
I have been reading different posts, but I still have questions for tuning it up. I have no service records for this vehicle. It runs smooth, I notice slight hesitation occasionally (cam sensor/cam magnet most likely. Code 41).
Forgive me in advance there are many questions here that may seem simple, but I just want to make sure with you guys before I begin any expenses.
Brake fluid and power steering fluids-I cannot find a 'how-to' in the Chilton so I do not want to attempt flushing these fluids without a guide. Is it recommended to flush these fluids? How much would it cost for mechanic to take care of it?
Transmission fluid-is it dangerous to flush with the 73k miles on it, or can I attempt this with no worries. I have read that flushing old tranny fluid may cause problems. I will attempt this myself depending on the feedback I get from y'all.
Oil and coolant-I can do myself, I have no major concerns that I know of.
Spark plugs-I feel like I can do the spark plugs myself, but I'd rather have peice of mind and let a pro do it-Should I invest in new plugs?
Hoses and wires-I read some reccomendations to replace all hoses and wires, but which ones should I give priority to, and which ones are not neccessary to replace?
Any other reccommendations as far as fuel filters, or just any general tune ups?
THANKS EVRY1 for your patience and help in this matter. I have learned so much from y'alls expertise so far! I am teaching my younger bro as I learn through you guys Thanx:)
