GMC Jimmy turn signal problems!!!

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy. I am getting a constant turn signal clicking noise, but my signals are NOT on. The noise goes away if I hit the brake pedal. The actual signals function normal. I have Bulldog remote start hooked up in it. I've never had any trouble with the Bulldog, but I disconnected it anyway to see if the clicking noise would stop. It did not.

There was a period of time when the clicking was more intermittent. Not constant. At this time, I could barely, barely, barely touch the turn signal switch and the clicking would begin. Now, it is basicaly constant unless I'm on the brakes. So, it seems I need to replace the multifunction switch.

My questions are - has anybody else had this problem? Did replacing the switch fix the problem? Should I buy aftermarket for half the cost or go OEM on this one? How hard was the job?

Help me out here folks. The constant clicking is torture.

Thanks for any help

Thanks for the link! That will be incredibly useful. I'm still hesitant though, about the time and money investment without knowing for sure that will do the trick.

I agree with jammyjim, its your multifunction switch. there was a recall, or service bulletin for these trucks. the brake lights are also commonly (not always) affected too, so you night want to check and make sure they work

My switch was affecting my Dt running lights. they would turn off when my signals were on.
