Hi Guys,
Newbie here, first post, but been reading for a week or so.
I am getting a Vehicle speed sensor code on my 95 metro 1L, 5 speed. I wonder if anyone knows what this sensor does for this particular vehicle configuration since it is not needed for shifting.
Thanks.

I've read that the vehicle speed sensor tells the ecu that the car is moving and will hold the idle high while the car is moving. That helps the shifting on a manual tranny

I happen to also have a '95 Metro 3-cyl 1L 5-speed manual, and an OEM manual. I'll try to attach photos of the 2 pages for that DTC.

just a thought:
does the car have a shift indicator light?
if it does the VSS may be for this.

I finally obtained a used speedometer witht he Vehicle Speed Sensor on it that worked. The check engine light went off and I noticed right away that the idle bumped up to 1500 rpm when I got up to around 10 mpg.
