Driving Around

Just curious but does anyone else just drive around and think? Like, if you get in a fight or you have stress does anyone else relieve it by just driving around mindlessly, without an exact destination?

I used to (when I controlled my own life).

Instead, I just go to work to embark on mindless thought... a bit of a contradiction in terms, huh?

Yeah, that's the problem ... sometimes if I'm really upset and crying or what-not I'll go so fast that I have to think, what the hell am I doing? It's scary! But when I just need to vent and think a little, I drive rather slow, it's hard to explain.

Another question ... I have a 2001 Sentra SE and I have a choice of two kits, the Buddy Club 2 or the R33 Skyline, which would you get?

Heck no, that's perfect!!! I go to class for a good dose of mindless learning! :p

To answer the topic: Yes, I love to let out some aggression on my car. Chirping 2nd and pushing my tires through the corners is incredible stress relief, both on bike and car. Okay, so I can't chirp second on my bike. :p When I don't feel like driving, or conditions don't warrant beating the living piss out of my car, I like to figure skate out some stress with power laps and the like. :D

I am blessed with an uncanny ability to remain cool. I don't even understand stress, as I've never been stressed, and on the very rare occasion that I'm angry, I sleep it off.

However, I do drive around pointlessly a lot, but in my case is just for the joy of driving/lack of anything to do.

Also, if I need to think, I take a shower and think there. I love showers, and it's a perfect place where you can go that no one will disturb you. I've been known to take a couple 45 minute showers in one day on occasion....

I've come to the conclusion that it's not good for me to drive when I'm upset or stressed about something....it ends up in me driving very wreckless. :D

But yes, I love to drive, and I cruise everyday just for the hell of it thinking about stuff. :)

I do find it relaxing to take a cruise down the countryside as well. Heck, even if I am not stressed I enjoy doing that.

Thanks, I don't feel so alone now. Whenever I get mad or stressed I just can't be in my house or anywhere for that matter, I just have to get out and driving is like my only escape. :)

To those who seem to remain cool and rarely, if ever, feel stressed or angry, HOW DO YOU DO IT?:bloated:

If i got behide the wheel i'd turn into a idiot if i was really pissed at something/somebody.
I find it better to go for a walk to calm down or have a play fight with the dog we have to release the stress

Watch TV4 after midnight and you will see why this is a VERY dodgy line!

and if you continue to use your dog in such a manner to relieve "stress" then I will have to call the SPCA.

The way I see it:

Nobody likes a bad mood. If I'm in a bad mood, I hate being in a bad mood, everybody else hates me being in a bad mood cause it rubs off on everyone. So why would I want to do something that has no point and that neither I or anybody else likes? I don't want to, so I don't. I don't allow myself to get into a bad mood.

As far as stress, I just don't worry about anything. It'll work out, either good or bad. If bad, that's the way it happened...oh well. Things like tests...I've realized they're not a test of knowledge, they're a test of how you perform under pressure. Almost everyone that goes into a test knows every answer, they just start second guessing themselves when they think about how much it's worth, and worry about getting it wrong. Before each test, I don't stress out or worry because I'm convinced I know every single answer on the test...I don't need to bother studying, I learned it in class. I go in, write the test without worrying, and typically get 85+ on every test.

Stressing about other things, like personal stuff, I just don't let it get to me. I don't allow me to be bothered by anyone/anything. I can't control it/them, no point getting pissed about it. If people hate me for something, so be it. If people make fun of me for something, just ignore them and it stops.

It's all quite simple, just force yourself not to worry or let anything affect you.

Seldom do I getstressed or angry......Maybe that is down to teh fact I am only 16 and have piss all to worry about. Usually- if I do get pissed off with someone- I feel better after usually 20 minutes- but by then the sourness has rubbed off on my mates/family/whoever- So I have to spend the next hour with me being ignored- so I see it as pointless getting in bad moods- Of course SHOULD I get stressed there is one simple solution.....SOCCER- I belt my Soccer ball against the garage wall for maybe 10 minutes- I feel that I have realeased the Stress- the Jetta also likes being thrashed- so should I want to- the option is always there- but pounding the shit out of a Soccer ball is a better remedy IMHO

Wow, thanks Heep. I never really put it all into perspective and thought of it that way. You have a great outlook on life, that's awesome! I wish I could just look at everything logically like that and not let it affect me but I'm a very emotional person so it doesn't work that way:(

I used to when I had a car that really enjoyed driving, now I have a car that is just normal to drive, not very exciting. Quite sad reallty.

I do all the time myself. Either I drive or work on my car

I take my clubs and head down to the driving range. Pick up a large bucket (about 110 balls), warm up and then proceed to hit golf balls. The thing for me about golf is that it's an incredibly frustrating game and if I'm stressed and tense the golf balls go all over the place.

But I can hit the ball very straight and consistently long distances when I'm loose, slower and deliberate with my swing. If I focus and relax I get better strikes on the ball and they end up in the trees in the back of the range.

So that's my therapy - I have to relax, get perspective and focus. If I can't get away to the range - I have a putter in my office and a little plastic box to hit them.

Failing that I'll just thinking of some lazy GS turns on my skis...
