I'm wondering if I drop a EVO VI engine 4G63T. I was wondering if i drop it in a automatic Mirage, could i change the transmission to manual, since the engine was orginially on a manual EVO VI.

i been thinking of buying this engine i found for 4000 USD, and a mirage for 2000 USD....just wondering if this is possible...

You can use all gearboxes that fits on the engine and in the car. But if the gearbox doesn't fit in the car and/or on the engine it can be expensive to modifying it for it's new application.

Don't know if just that engine fits on the gearbox you are planning to use but that's a diffrent story...

Also remember that the gearbox and clutch must handle the torque given by the engine.

That would be extremely difficult, mainly because the EVO is so very different on the inside from the Mirage. You'd have to do several things to actually convert to get an EVO-like car:

1)Replace Mirage engine of course, but you'd have to use all EVO running gear (tranny, drivetrain) because there's no way you'd ever be able to run that much power to a flimsy Mirage front end (not a bad car in itself, just was never meant to take that much power).

2) To be able to handle the power, suspension mods to EVO standards would likely be needed unless you want a car as fast as an EVO but as well handling as a Mirage.

3) Steering! The EVO has a very quick, very strong steering rack, which may need to be transplanted.

In the end, you'd end up with an all EVO car with a Mirage shell. And unless it's done perfectly, it's a huge liability. I wouldn't try that myself, there's so many better things you can do with the money (like dropping the 4G63 into an older Talon TSi with an upgraded tranny).
