1995 Tranny Swap Question

I have a 1995 Bonneville SE with the FW2 (3.06 ratio) transmission. 251,000 miles finally gone but engine and car still in great shape. Going to replace tranny with used one from junkyard. I know that it must be from a 1995 Bonneville, Park Ave, 88 or 98. My question is there are several more F17's (2.84 ratio) available than the FW2. Can I replace the FW2 with the F17 without replacing the computer or anything else (is it a direct replacement)?

Please advise.

They all will bolt up as long as all the mount locations are the same or all the bosses are there so you can use your mounts, but your shift points and speedo will be off.
