Coolant in ventilation system...

My truck is blowing what smells like antifreeze out of my vents and it's fogging up my windesheild pretty bad. I havn't been driving it much and when i do i've kept the windows down to keep the smell down. i had recently recharged my ac unit (still doesn't work) but made sure not to overcharge it. The guy at advanced auto said it could be heating coil? pulled the codes from check engine light and the only thing that came up was transmission related....i'll ask about that in a different post..not sure what to do about the coolant in the ventilation system...any help would be apreciated.

Most likely the heater core. I am pretty sure there are some how to's posted on here.

As said check that heater core.
But a word of caution.
Do not breath them fumes.
Keep it well vented with all windows down.
The fumes off of engine coolant can be dangerous to you health.

what's a ball park $$ for getting a new heater core put in. and once it's replaced, won't i still have coolant in the duct work etc i'll need to worry about? or does replacing the heater core fix it all?

Ummm, It;s like 10 or 11 hours labor. They pull the entire dash...$800 or so.

$800 bucks or more if you take it to the dealer, but you can do it yourself in a day for under $50. clean the heator core cabinet well and pull the carpet up on the passenger side. get a shop vac and suck out the coolant, then flush the carpet with water and suck it out with the vac repeatadly. you can buy an antifreeze cleaner from the dealer that will nuetralize the coolant from the dealer, never seen it in the auto parts stores. check out this thread for more info: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=703085
