Hi
I have '97 with 80k on it. It also has the Vulcan engine.
1)
When on the highway today (@ 55mph/ish) going down a 2% or so grade, the steering wheel started to jump around in my hands uncontrollably. This lasted for about 4 miles (the downgrade was about 3 of those miles). The other mile was level but it still jumped around. When I accelerated to go up a grade, the steering smoothed out and completely stopped for the next 10 miles. I am taking it into a garage tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has any ideas.
2) The car is equiped with ABS. When stepping on the brakes the car is pulling to the right. This actually started the above problem.
HELP!
Thank you!

It could be a couple of things. 1) A bad tie-rod end would allow the wheel to move back and forth causing the sympton you noted, 2) a bad wheel bearing can cause the same issue. If you were applying the brakes on the down slope, did you feel the sensation in the peddle as well? This could indicate a warped brake rotor. Good luck.
