I want to buy three upgrades for my 06 silverado with the 5.3 in it. A cold air intake, exhaust, and a chip. I am starting this to see who has what brands of the three and if they are worth the money. With these upgrades I am looking for more of the fuel economy boost out of them. Now I like to smoke the competition with the best of them but I am mainly looking for the fuel economy. Curently I am Avg. 17.5 in the City and 20.5 on the highway with some city.

Well I have an AEM Brute Force Intake, Magnaflow/flowmaster Exhause, and no chip yet. I saw a slight increase in fuel economy once I took my foot out of it. Would I do it again? Probably. I wanted it mostly for the sound. I love the sound of the Dual Exhaust and Intake Combo.
Tip though, DO NOT BUY MAGNAFLOW with the 5.3L TOOOO MUCH RESONATION!!!! I had to put a Flowmaster Resonator in to help with the tone.... Just so you know anyways....
Lot's of guys on here rave about the Nelson Tune http://www.nelsonperformance.com but, I can't afford that one yet.
Happy Shopping....

K&N FIPK kit. Got mine new on ebay for $150. A little mpg gain but not much, noticable power increase though.

There is no "chip" in these. Your computer, or PCM, has to be reprogrammed, or "tuned."
I have a Nelson, no complaints except the price. If I had it to do again, I'd get a Wheatley tune. I also have a K&N FIPK, and a dual outlet flowmaster. Sounds good.

For your Exhaust, save yourself the money and just chop off the muffler. you will get the same sound if not better than the $400 gibson or Magnaflow. You will also see much better fuel economy.
I have the K&N Gen II FIPK. great system!!

You will not be dissapointed with wheatly. I've logged several trucks that have a wheatly tune, and he definately knows what he is doing. Nelson hasn't done so great on my last few tunes. That's why I went ahead and ordered hp tuners myself.
+1 for wheatley tunes and Nelson tunes as long as the truck is fairly stock.
