The RS model was only available in 96-97, and 01-02.. So your car isn't an RS. Nice lookin car though, but not diggin the rims.

Ok blindxeyed (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=279329) u said that is is not an rs. i was told it was an rs when i bought it. so u got me thinking maybe its not an rs. after all there are not any indications on the car that say rs. so i did some digging and found out that it is indeed an rs. the rs was offered in '67-'73, '75-'80, limited '87-'88, '89-'02. Some years an RS was the only thing available and others it was an option. and philly im not sure why it does not have the same wing as yours maybe it was the preference of the person who bought it or maybe they just changed it in 98. and whats wrong with my rims?

As I said.. in the 4th gen models, the RS option was only available in 96-97, and 01-02. You also have no RS badging, and no ground effects that come with the RS models. Nothing is wrong with your rims as all. I was just saying I don't prefer that style.

As Blindxeyed said, the 4th gen RS was only availible in 96-97(gm option) and 00-02(SLP option). In 98 there was the base V6, the Z28, and the SS. That car is a base v6. Not bad looking but i personally would change the rims, they don't fit the style of the car.

how does an RS differ from a regular 6 cyl. camaro other than badging?

96-97 the only difference from the base v6 was the body kit and badges. On 00-02 models, the RS got the z28 exhuast system for a 5hp boost, bowtie grill, RS badges, dash plaque, and optional dual racing stripes. 96-97 models could be coupe or convertible but 00-02 models could only be coupes.

hold on there guy, the lt1 style 4th gen rs did differ from a regular 3800...it came with the dual exhuast...pipes out of both sides which like i told my man rated it a few hp more..not enough to brag about but it did. u cant leave out the going from one pipe on the left side to going to 2 pipes on both sides!! and yes the last years of the rs was spent on a z28... i have sum pics with my current car and my friends ls1 z28 which came with the rs kit and wing as well. i know we argue about this every year at least once..this and the years of the damn ss lmao..

to my knowledge, the 96-97 rs did not recieve the z28 dual exit exhaust, only the 00-02 rs did. there was the y87 package for the 96-97 rs which gave it z28 suspension components but not the exhaust. base and z28 models from 98-02 had the optional sport apperance package which included ground effects and the rs type spolier. 00-02 rs did not have any std ground effects package. let the arguement continue, lol...j/k.
reguardless, topdog's car is a nice lookin ride. a v6 camaro is still a camaro.
