Rounding torx bolt on motor mount

I tried to do the typical serpentine belt removal procedure the other day on my girlfriend's "97 LeSabre on to find the torx bolt on the bottom of the mount(the one instructed from instructions to remove first) extremely tight and slightly rounded off. I didn't make matters better with my attempt and was wondering if this is the onlyway to change one of these belts?

I can't see how a small size torx head bolt with age (rust etc.) can be removed without rounding the head off. Any ideas?

Thanks

On my 99 it is not a torx, it is a 10 - 15 MM nut or stud thats about 4 inches long that screws directly into the engine block. There is a sleeve? that is between the block and the engine mount.

On my 98 there is a TORX on the end HOWEVER my socket went in past the TORX and drove the 15mm nut that romoves the whole bolt after which time time I was able to get the sleeve out. I was then able to take the old serpentine belt off and slide the new one on. Of course all this was accessed after removing the passenger front tire and removing the wheel well cover.

Pretty straight forward after I figured out how to access the lower engine mount to engine bolt.

Hi,
Thanks for the help. It was a torx bolt but had a 18mm bolt that did loosen (using a 18mm deep socket) and allow me to drop the spacer and r&r the belt. Very tight fit on putting that spacer back, otherwise an easy job. I got messed up once before when asking the question and was advised by a reader to remove the torx bolt first and then the metic nut/bolt.

Still not the best design as my '90 Lesabre was a 3 minute job.
